Blind Boxer is an independent narrative film which tells the story of Showboat, a down-on-his-luck, visually impaired young man who yearns to one day be a middleweight boxing champion. Although he experiences intense struggles and setbacks, he finds the community and strength to face his demons and win at life.
Written and Executive Produced by CSI franchise creator, Anthony E. Zuiker, and directed by Jake Ronnow ("Mankind"), Blind Boxer is about turning weakness into strength and overcoming seemingly impossible odds. It's the journey of someone living with a visual impairment who isn’t a champion because of his elite fighting skills, but because every time he gets knocked down, he finds the inner strength to rise again.
Blind Boxer stars Wade Ronnow (Mankind), Nico Ali Walsh, professional boxer and grandson of Muhammad Ali, award-winning actress Regina Taylor (The Good Fight, CSI), actor Michael Bunin (Superstore, My Boys), and Olympian and actor Shea Buckner (The Rookie, The Blacklist) to name a few.
Blind Boxer will be filmed in black and white on location in Boise, ID. The script has been reviewed by the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired to ensure authenticity and to receive the metaphorical stamp of approval from the blind community.
